The Holidays Are Amongst Us

It’s the holiday season...time moves fast! This is the time of year when we're drawn together with our families, friends and the people in our lives that we love. We make new memories and we remember times past. Love. Family. Support. All of these evoke the kind of memories and emotions that I like to call “keepers” —the times in life that carve out a niche in your heart.

The same thing can happen with a good story, a romance, mystery, fantasy, whatever type of story your enjoy. You picture so vividly the characters and setting. You live and breathe what they do, letting the story sweep you away. And when you get closer to the end, it’s like saying goodbye to old friends, but the memory lingers. Who can forget LaVryle Spencer’s November of the Heart….whether Lorna would choose a relationship with Jens? The anticipation and emotional pull of their journey kept me turning the pages.

Have you read a book that stayed with you well past the last page? Or left a memory with you that makes you want to read the story again?

Grand Opening- I was there!

I went to a new set of outlet stores in NJ, right around the corner from my house...on GRAND OPENING DAY. Have you ever experienced that? Complete mayhem. Ribbon cutting. Bands. Packed Food court. New bathrooms. Think about it for a second. Grand Opening day for a new shopping center that boasts more than 120 brand name stores at the beginning of the holiday season? It's a girl's absolute, unbelievable way to spend the day. We were the first customers in the Nike store, so we were awarded $10 giftcards, which we promptly used on our kids! Many highlights surrounded me, including...drumroll please... a Lancome outlet. Eyeshadow quads for $4.99. Yes, $4.99! And then the rain came. It didn't stop us though--there were still stores to be had. So we hit a few more, lost the car, found the car, then headed home with five minutes to spare before the school bus came. Now, THAT was a crazy day. What kind of crazy shopping experiences have you had?

The World as my Story

This is my debut post, my debut blog, debut everything! I wanted to announce that my debut book "A Daughter's Promise" is being released from the Wild Rose Press Friday, Oct. 18... What a journey it's been!

This is my dream coming true! Since I was young, I wanted to be a writer, an author. I wanted to write about characters like the ones in the Little House on the Prairie books. And then I would tackle mysteries like Nancy Drew. Making up stories about people consumed me. If I didn't know someone's background, I'd make one up for them. But thinking them up was the easy part. When I started to put it down on paper, I discovered so much more! I could describe everything, everything about them. The world was my story! How great is that????

So here I am, on the eve of launching my dream. It's unimaginable. Incredible. Life altering. And I have so many people to thank for their encouragement along the way. Especially my family. If I wrote the countless ways they've shown their support, I'd run out of blog space. I'll be grateful to them forever.

What I've learned in all this...we have to work for dreams. Really hard. As our lives get so filled up, we forget what we love to do for us, our own individual passions. We have to dig down in our guts and remember what we dreamed about as a child. Then grab onto it and make time for it. Nurture it. Plant it in our daily lives. Then watch it grow.

If you'd like to see a trailer or more info, you'll find stuff on my website, www.christineclemetson.com. Also, I have a myspace at http://myspace.com/cclemetson.

Stop by next Thursday, if you get a second! The topic? Not sure yet. But something fun! LOL.
